Dr. Nils F. Nissen and the experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (Fraunhofer IZM) will give an overview of current environmental research topics and as a focal part on the European environmental legislation for electronics. The most recent developments from the recast of the RoHS directive and from the EuP/ErP implementation will be presented and discussed, including several keen issues for Japanese electronic manufacturers, such as RoHS 2.0, arguments as to interpretation of "article" on the REACH regulation, GHS: which umbers of substances regulated differ to countries are not harmonized, and WEEE recast as well as the pending requirements on “Networked Standby” in EuP/ErP. This workshop is a cooperation between Fraunhofer, the University of Tokyo and the Union of Ecodesigners and The Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association (JEMA).
