Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research WKI will show concepts for multistorey wooden buildings and fire retardant coatings at their booth (1M 16-4) at Japan's Home & Building Show 2009.

Focus of multistorey wooden buildings is on fire protection of buildings due to construction and on building physics in general.

The fire retardant coatings will foam, mineralize and harden again due to heat exposure. This technology is known from aerospace technology and can now be used for buildings.
