The COVID-19 crisis poses an exceptional global challenge to our health systems, economies, governments, companies and universities. Around the globe scientists and researchers are intensely searching for effective treatments, vaccines and tests for the SARS-Cov-2 virus, one aim of the researchers being real-time testing.

Instant COVID-19 Diagnostics would help us manage the crisis and provide a higher degree of confidence at a time when effective vaccines are not yet available. It comes as no surprise that Micro- and Nanosystems, often associated with manufacturing technologies, are helping researchers in developing fast and affordable testing.

The NRW Japan K.K. Fireplace WebTalk(NRWジャパン炉端会議Web版)will focus on the topic of developing the next generation „COVID-19 Instant Diagnostics“ and present an innovative new technology developed at the Fraunhofer Institute of Microelectric Systems (IMS) at the University of Duisburg–Essen in NRW. We will explore the potential impact of this innovative technology on the clinical and business environment in Germany/NRW and Japan.

A researcher from the Fraunhofer IMS is going to hold a talk at this online event.
